Orlando is a city located in Central Florida, United States. According to the census, Orlando had a population of 2,802,570 last July 2017 which made the Orlando the 24th-largest city in the United States, and the third-largest city in Florida.

Orlando City is described as “The City Beautiful.” The fountain at Lake Eola is the metropolitan area’s symbol. Orlando became “The Theme Park Capital of the World.” Way back year 2016, the city’s events and tourist attractions invited more than 72 million tourists.

The famous airport in the city which is the Orlando International Airport (MCO or OIA) is known as the thirteenth-busiest airport in the entire United States and stood as the 29th-busiest in the whole world.

Orlando City is home to numerous theme parks which include Walt Disney World. It is very famous because it consists of some more beautiful parks such as the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. It also contains gorgeous water parks.

One more major destination in the area is the Universal Orlando which comprises Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure together with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Orlando City was once known as Jernigan which originated from the first permanent colonizers, Aaron, and Issac Jernigan. They are cattlemen who attained land two miles northwest of Fort Gatlin. Aaron Jernigan was the first State Representative in the year 1845, but his appeals for extra military protection was not answered.

There was about five version of stories as to the origin of Orlando’s name. The most famous story was that the name Orlando was taken after the legend of a man who died in the year 1835 during an encounter by Native Americans in the city which happened on the Second Seminole War.

Many of the stories convey a spoken history of a person named Orlando. There’s a version too, that says that man named Orlando passed by on his way to Tampa City carrying a herd of an ox, died on the place, and buried with a remarkable mark on his grave.

There are many Orlando hotels to choose from, from budget accommodation to the main five star brands. If you are a student you can even find ways to get lodging at some of the student housing buildings during the summer, as many rooms will be vacant and they offer discounted prices. Make sure to pick a nice an convenient location for you, but of course it depends on your budget. As you will spend most of your time outside if you like to discover Orlando, it does not matter too much.

Orlando City is an industrial and hi-tech center. The city has about $13.4 billion technology industry which employed approximately 53,000 people.  It was also a nationally renowned group of innovation in agricultural technology, digital media, aviation, software design, and, aerospace. There were more than 150 international companies got facilities in Metro Orlando demonstrating 20 countries in the world.

Central Florida Research Park is the 7th-largest research park in the country. It has more than 1,025 acres.

Orlando City has 120 companies on it, and there were more than 8,500 people employed. Every end of each year, the world’s largest modeling and simulation conference, the Orange County Convention Center hosted it.

Orlando City has two popular non-profit hospital systems, Florida Hospital, and Orlando Health. Orlando’s medical leadership was advanced to the accomplishment of the University of Central Florida’s College of Medicine. It is a new VA Hospital which is situated in a new medical district in the Lake Nona in Orlando City.

The metro area is where Darden Restaurants can be found, the parent company of LongHorn Steakhouse and Olive Garden. It is also the largest operator of restaurants in the world based on income.

Large shopping malls were built in the city. One of it is The Florida Mall which is the largest among all the malls in Orlando. There are more than 250 stores in it with seven anchor department stores. You may also find the Florida Mall Hotel & Conference Center Tower in that particular single-story mall.
